Hsinchu, Taiwan, September 8, 2008
— SpringSoft, Inc., a global supplier of specialized IC design
software, today announced that it has been awarded a patent for its
rule-based schematic diagram generator, the seventh U.S. patent given
to the company’s popular Laker™ Custom IC Design technology. This
achievement recognizes the innovation and unique value of the Laker
controllable automation technologies that enable chip designers to
achieve optimal results faster with less effort than traditional
methods. With this latest award, SpringSoft holds more than 20 active
patents in the U.S. and Taiwan for its Novas™ Verification Enhancement
and Laker Custom IC Design technologies. The newly patented automatic
schematic generator is a key component of the Laker analog design
platform and schematic-driven layout (SDL) flow used today by hundreds
of designers. The tool automatically generates user-readable
schematics from imported EDIF, Verilog®, CDL and SPICE netlists, so
that designers can quickly understand, reuse and modify legacy designs.
The netlists are processed transparently by the generator to identify
placement rules, and subsequently place and wire device symbols in the
schematic accordingly. “This is a significant milestone
for our company, and one that highlights the dedication and talent of
our Laker R&D team. They have demonstrated once again their
aptitude for developing innovative, practical custom IC design
solutions that help designers to get their jobs done faster without
compromising quality of results,” said Johnson Teng, chief operating
officer of SpringSoft. “We are proud of the patent-rich heritage of our
entire EDA product portfolio, and remain more committed than ever to
bringing the benefits of our specialized automation technologies to the
global design community.” Laker History of Innovation The Laker suite of software
solutions is well known for analog, mixed-signal, and full custom
digital design and layout. A number of the core automation technologies
developed by SpringSoft for the Laker products have been awarded U.S.
patents since its introduction in 2001. These include the: About Laker The Laker schematic, layout, and
automated custom layout tools offer the power of controllable
automation and unmatched interoperability to deliver best-in-class
flows for analog, mixed-signal, and custom digital designs. More than
300 companies worldwide, including 7 of the top 10 semiconductor
companies, have adopted the Laker solution. The Laker solutions support
many popular hardware platforms, including major UNIX workstations
running Sun Solaris, HP-UX, and PC Linux. For more information about
