The complexities and the increased cost of today’s advanced technologies make efficient design more and more difficult. In order to help our customers conquer these challenges and shorten the product development cycle, SpringSoft has worked with leading foundries to build process design kits (PDKs) for the Laker™ layout environment.

SpringSoft PDK packages contain all the components for design capture, foundry certified SPICE model for pre-layout simulation, layout cells, and foundry certified verification decks.

Fig. 01 shows the brief design flow of a SpringSoft PDK. In the front-end, fundamental components of foundry processes are built into the Laker Advanced Design Platform (ADP) library. The back-end kits are constructed from the Laker Custom Layout Automation System by using Magic Cell^TM (MCell) or parameterized devices (TCL PCell), which include schematic driven layout to provide an automatic and complete design flow. Through this process, the risk of errors is reduced and the design flow helps circuit designers design their products more efficiently.

The interoperability between our 3^rd–party partner products and our Laker custom IC design solution allows our users to import their design via EDIF format.
