Automatically Backup nWave Signals

Some users may have experienced a situation where the Verdi process was accidentally closed during a long debug process. When this happens, it is frustrating to get back to the same debug point, since there may have thousands of signals displayed in nWave during that debug session. In previous versions of the Verdi system there is a replay mechanism to helps users get back to the specific point through the -play command line option with the verdi.cmd file under the verdiLog directory. However the replay mechanism replays all steps in the same debug session - which means users may need to spend a long time waiting for these commands to execute - especially when a debug session has lasted for weeks.

Starting in Verdi 2009.04, an Automatic Backup mechanism is provided for automatically backing up signal lists for all opened nWave windows. The option can be found in the Waveform > Default Value > Miscellaneous page of the Preferences form (invoked with Tools > Preferences). Users can turn on the Automatically Save Signals Every n Minutes option and specify the required period (in minutes) to backup all opened nWave windows. The backup file name for the signal list files can be specified in the Backup File Name field, note that a nWave ID will be added to the file name automatically, for example: BackupFileName_<nWaveID>.rc.
